The Barn at Hamilton Station | Loudoun County Wedding | Navy and Burgandy

A Nurse and a Firefighter

Back in October I had the pleasure of working with another Wedding Photographer, Bethanne Arthur of Bethanne Arthur Photography.  She needed a second photographer at the last minute and I was happy to step in and assist.

Their venue was The Barns at Hamilton Station.  This is a vineyard that makes their own bottles of wine and is nestled in Western Loudoun County in Virginia.  I just knew the sunset was going to be gorgeous because even though it was October, the warm sun kept everyone comfortable in short sleeves.

I met Chris and his brother first to take some photos of him getting ready.  The Ladies had the white Farmhouse to themselves so these gentlemen arrived almost entirely ready.  Chris was quiet, but seemed to appreciate the laid back mini-session with his brother. They laughed and chatted a little as I caught some pre-wedding jitters.  This watch was given to him by his late Father, and it was very special to him.  Chris' cufflinks read "Stay Calm and Chive on".

Meanwhile back at the Farmhouse, Rachel was about to step into her dress.  She had 3 bridesmaids, her Mother and Mother-in-law-to-be, a Wedding Coordinator, a Grandmother, and 2 photographers all ready to take care of whatever she needed.  Rachel couldn't have been more calm and excited at the same time.  As her family helped her into her dress the zipper and buttons were a bit difficult to get in place.  There were 3 pairs of hands getting all those tiny buttons just perfect.

During this time, the Bridesmaids were faced away because Rachel wanted to surprise them.  It was warm enough to have the AC on so they were standing next to it trying to melt and ruin they're beautiful makeup.

Rachel's Dad was downstairs calmly reading the newspaper when we asked him to walk upstairs to see Rachel for the first time in her dress.  He was all smiles and maybe a few tears at the sight of his little girl, all grown up.  This gets me everytime.  I choked some tears back as I shared their joy in this special moment.

First Look

The Families were all ready for Family formals and Bridal Party Formals before the Ceremony, which followed immediately afterwards.  The sun was just about to set when Rachel walked down the aisle with her parents.  It couldn't have been more perfect.

The Lower level of The Barn at Hamilton Station was setup for their reception dinner.  Each table had matching centerpieces with a different photo of their rescued puppy.  Each guest also received a candy apple as their favor to take home. After the Reception Dinner all the guests were invited upstairs to celebrate as the DJ played their favorite music.

First Dance with her Dad, First Dance with his Mom.  Rachel danced with her Grandfather, I love this photo of them together!  Incredibly sweet!   Then Rachel and Chris dance together and it was like the whole room faded away and it was just the two of them.

It was such a pleasure to be second shooting this wedding.  Their story is beautiful because it's unique.  A Nurse and a Firefighter.

If you're interested in having me as your wedding photographer I would love to chat with you and answer any questions.  I love to tell stories and maybe yours will be my next one to tell!
